If there is one thing that strikes fear into the hearts of most Paranormal lovers, it (que dramatic music) the Ouija Board! You would think it was made by Satan himself how some talk about it. I want to take a few minutes and explain the history of the board, how it’s used and hopefully give you a different perspective on it. For years Hollywood has demonized this poor board and it really doesn’t deserve the wrap it gets.
The Ouija board first came into existent around 1890, it was a tool used by Spiritualist Mediums to communicate with the deceased . To fine out more about Spiritualism go to https://www.historynet.com/the-fox-sisters-spiritualisms-unlikely-founders.htm. Mediums used a variety of tools to communicate with the dead and the spirit board /Ouija board was one of many. The concept is pretty simple, by placing your hands on the planchette (the little heart looking piece that site on top of the board) the user would ask a question and Spirit will move the planchette over the board and spell out an answer. So is it Spirit that actually moves the planchette? Well no, not really. With that said, it does not mean that you are intentionally moving it either, let me explain.
When you talk to the spirit world, you in essence become a Medium. (Define Medium - An intervening substance through which something else is transmitted or carried on) You become an open channel between the here and now, and the spirit world. With your hands on the planchette, unknowingly your muscles move the planchette, this is called the Ideomotor Impact. Ideomotor actions are unconscious gestures we make in response to robust concepts or feelings. So Spirit works through you, using your physical body to deliver a message. Sound kind of creepy but now let me share with you an observation, ghost hunters use this concept every time they investigate. How many time have you heard on a TV show, “Spirit, if you can hear me please give me a sign?” Doesn’t that sound a lot like “If there is anyone present, please let up know?”
Now here is really where the Ouija board really gets a bad wrap, teenagers! Most of the stories I hear about negative thing start out with “When I was younger, me and my friends were at a party and used a Ouija board and a bad spirit came through.” Well yeah, I can believe it, but it was not the boards fault. We understand like attracts like, not a new concept by any means. Most of the time at these parties’ young people are drinking and or doing drugs, maybe not the person who you are speaking with but most likely someone using the board. That lower energy vibration attracts lower energy, hence you now have a problem. Add into that, the most don’t properly close the board after using it and this is why so many people claim to have a problem.
As with anything, there is some training or instructions that should be followed but using an Ouija board is as safe as any other divination tool. I have a collection of them and find them to be a unique piece of history and a great way to communicate with the hereafter.
